Speedsurfingblog: Back 2 normal
I can say now my days of being sponsored are over* (*except for Sonntag Fins). First I would like to thank Gerrit Kater from Kater Funsports, the support from him was very helpfull and I will remember the nice discussions for a long time. I also would like to thank Fox Sports (Martijn & Thewes) for their support with Starboard and Severne. I wish windsurf business the best, these are though times, windsurfers are too old.
Yesterday I had a good talk and all parties agreed being a promoter of speedsurfing didn’t fit anymore in my daily life. For example there was a good 5 months inbetween the last session yesterday and my windsurfing holiday in Tarifa. It wasn’t all because I had no time or didn’t want to windsurf, but I didn’t had this windsurfing craving either (for the record, fact: since the beginning of 2014 I simply had no sails, masts and booms up till yesterday).Buying equipment with free choice
Yesterday things finally settled and now I actually chose to buy some stuff at Kater, I could choose everything from a brandnew sail of >€ 1000,– up to a 10 year old piece of plastic once famous of being ”fast”. I deeply feel sorry for the consumers, windsurfing turns out to be rather expensive, and it is bloody difficult to choose from the thousand-and-one options. In the end I bought a second-hand Severne Reflex III 7.0 and a used 2010 Enigma 430 mast plus a brand-new Aeron 180-230 carbon boom. I digged through the shed of our dewatering company and between the drilling equipment and gravel stockpile I found my old and (t)rusty NP RS:Slalom MKIII 6.2. So I have two good sails a mast and a brandnew boom, that should give me a nice point to start. Next to the rusty NP there was the good old Carbon Art Speed 44 (2007) and iSonic W44 (2010). Beside that I have a brand-new iSonic 2014 107 wood. Conclusion, I have enough plastic to windsurf
