Windsurfing Rally for His Majesty the King
Phuket Thailand, 15th – 20th January 2008The 1st. International Windsurfing Rally Championships in Thailand will take place at famous Phuket Island, located 700 km south of Bangkok at the Andaman Sea. It will be a competitive as well as social one-design event with complimentary beach and BB’q party’s every night. Charter equipment will be available from the organizer, but early bookings are recommended.
Thailand is well known for its relaxed atmosphere and Phuket Island has a mild steady breeze, tropical sun and 30 degrees. Wet suits not needed. While off the water you will find good, affordable accommodation and delicious food under the palm trees. And if you want nightlife, there are not many places like Phuket.
1. Event
The 1st International International Windsurfing Rally Championships in Thailand will be held from January 15th to January 20th 2008. Main event will be long distance races.2. Organizer
The event will be organized by Eastern Windsurfing Club (EWC) together with the Windsurfing Association of Thailand and Yacht Racing Association of Thailand. For and on behalf of and under specified conditions laid down by the Kona Class.3. Venue
Racing will take place at the Naiyang Beach and end at Bangtao Beach on the first day. Second day from Bangtao Beach to Patong Beach. Third day from Patong Beach to Kata Beach, Forth day from kata Beach to Promteap cape. During December, January the weather conditions are influenced by the north-east monsoon blowing from 8 to 25 knots. Water temp 24ºC; Average air temp 26-30ºC.4. Rules

The Windsurfing Competition Rules and the Sailing Instructions.5. Eligibility and Discipline
The 1st. International Windsurfing Rally Championships in Thailand are open to all sailors in the following divisions:
• Lightweight
• Heavyweight
Weight classes will be divided into two equal groups, and specified after registration and weigh-in of all competitors. The Championships are open to all age groups.6. Buoyancy
If personal buoyancy is prescribed, each competitor shall wear, above the waist, a jacket, harness, or vest with a minimum buoyancy of 4kg. Uninflected, in fresh water. The buoyancy shall be tested with a metal weight of 4kg. Which shall remain supported for a minimum of 5 minutes.7. Liability.
Competitors take part in all races at their own risk. The Organizing Authority or any of their officials or representatives or the sponsors or their officials or representatives are not responsible, under any circumstances, for any damage, loss or injury either ashore or on the water either to persons or equipment. Participation in this event, supporting events and in each race within them is at the sole discretion of the sailor and at his/her own risk.8. Courses
Courses will be specified in the Sailing Instructions or on the official notice board.9. Schedule
• January 15th 10.00 to 16.00 hrs Registration.
• January 16th Opening Ceremony at 12.00 and Racing at 13.00
• January 17th Racing. First possible start at 1100
• January 18th Racing. First possible start at 1100
• January 19th Racing. First possible start at 1100
Prize giving and Closing Ceremony from 18.00

The Windsurfing Competition Rules low points scoring system (App. A2) will apply.11. International Jury
An International Jury will be appointed. Their decisions will be final and cannot be appealed.12. Sailing Instructions (SI’s)/Event Program
The SI’s will be available at registration as will the Event Program scheduling social events.13. Accommodation
Please contact ewc@loxinfo.co.th for reservations. Due to peak season, number of rooms is limited in Phuket. Please make reservations in advance and no later than November 15th. Average price for 1 night is Euro 80 with ABF.
14. Air Travel/Transportation
The nearest Airport is Phuket International Airport. Book your flight to Phuket early to avoid disappointment, as it is close to peak season. Transfer from Phuket International Airport to the Hotel and race site will be arranged by the organizers on request. Please contact the organizers ewc@loxinfo.co.th and let them know your date and time of arrival and flight number. The cost for one way trip is 30 Euro per person.15. Charter Boards
Please order your charter board before 30th November 2007. Competitors may also purchase the charter boards subsequent to the event at very favorable prices. The charter fee is 100 Euro for complete sets. Please contact ewc@loxinfo.co.th for booking and further information.16. Registration
The registration office during the regatta will be located at the Event venue from 10.00 hours to 16.00 hours for registration and inquiries and Competitors are required to fill the regatta entry form and weigh-in with the official in charge. The entry fee is 50 Euro and payable at site/registration.19. Money/Exchange Rate
The currency of Thailand is the Baht. 1 US$ is approximately 36. – Baht. Money exchange is very easy in Thailand. Traveler cheques in US-Dollars have better exchange rates than bank notes. Svenska windsurfare kappseglar för att hylla Thailändske kungen!
Den 15 januari 2008 startar ”Puravarna Windsurfing Rally for His Majesty The King”, en internationell windsurfing-regatta för att fira den thailändske kungens 80-årsdag. På startlinjen finns 30 seglare från 21 länder, och tre från Sverige.
På fem dagar kommer man att segla en bana på c:a 100 km runt Phuket. Och delmålen kommer att läggas på inte minst för svenskar välkända stränder som Patong Beach, Kata Beach, Surin Beach och Nai Yang Beach. För att hedra kungen seglar man i gult: Specialdesignade gula brädor med gula segel, och gula våtdräkter.
Bland deltagarna finns många av världens bästa windsurfare och tävlingen kommer att tv-sändas av FOX SPORTS, STAR SPORTS, TPS, NOVA, GLOBAL TV och nå uppemot 170 miljoner tittare i hela världen.

Insegling och utag av grejer, idag traffades alla seglare och hade trevligt. Seglara fran manga nationer fran manga olika klasser, en avlapnad stamning med manga skratt. Vindarna svaga, men vad gor det nar man kan umgas med trevliga likasinnade.
Nagot historisk intraffade, ledningen fragade alla seglare om dom tyckte att pumpning var okey, sa rostade man och med 30 st roster sa rostade 28 seglare mot pumpning alltsa ingen pumpning.
Vidare under morgondagen ska det fors stallas upp for fot och intejuver for tv, sedan bor det av mot Bang Tao Bay med beachstart och beachmakgang.
