Har inte impregnerat själv, men är det Jenner och Son som säljer segelduk fungerar det nog bra. Alla dukar är preparerade med kemikalier, så man bör akta sig för att använda något preparat som kan vara lösande. Pröva först på en liten bit först.
Här kommer en text på engelska där någon beskriver hur han impregnerat sin kite (en foil) om du orkar läsa.
”Hi Denise, I had the problem of a second hand bomba not holding the air anymore
& getting soaked if it only got near the water, but no holes or rips in the kite
were to be seen. Kite used to be schoolkite, so I suppose it spent more time in
the drink than above the same.

I resolved this with an amazingly simple & cheap treatment from NIKWAX. Its
called ”NIKWAX tent & gear proof”. It is for tents and the like, non-breathing
gear. It works absolutely amazing, the kite is now water repellent & holds the
air like none of my brand new venoms ever did. This stuff is water soluble &
easy to use.

Only thing, I used it slightly different from the manufacturers advice:

1. wash the kite in the bath tub with tap water 2-3 times, let the water drip
off. DON’T USE SOAP, DETERGENTS OR THE LIKE.

2. roll the wet kite (Still in the bath tub) like a carpet. don’t fold, just
roll it up from one spar pocket to the other.

3. once rolled, start spraying the nikwax stuff (it comes in a pumping
dispenser) & rolling it the other way round. spray one cell, then roll in this
first sprayed cell. spray next cell, roll a bit more. spray on until the whole
kite is sprayed & rolled up again. after finishing one side, do the whole
process the other way (if you first sprayed topskin, spray & roll so that you
now spray the bottom skin of the kite. Suppose we’re talking an arc here that
has top & bottom skin.)

Once sprayed, I left the kite resting (in the bathtub) for half an hour or so. I
then hung it up to dry on the LE pigtails. This nikwax stuff makes ripstop &
seams so watertight that the next day the kite was dry, but in the TE there were
puddles of water that could not sip through the treated ripstop anymore.

The nikwax stuff makes ripstop feel different, it gets softer with a silky touch
to it, even braids, sparpockets, everything. I found that after the treatment
the kites fills faster with air in low wind. of course it flys like a charm. So
good that I treated my Venom13 as well, which is also an ex school kite and
started taking water. I have a new V8 and V19 so I can compare, and the
treatment leaves the kite IMO better than the new ones.

Nikwax nog bra ur hälsoperspektiv, för vad jag vet brukar de inte innehålla några gifter. Men de är himla dyrt $10 (antagligen 100kr) för yta motsvarande 4-5pers tält. Skall kolla upp vad det är för varningstext på det från Jenner & son.

Hengo: En del kiter uppför sig väldigt annorlunda när de är blöta. Bero antagligen på en kombination av dålig design och sliten/solad väv.

haha jag känner igen mig som fan på den punkten! Att man inte tänkt på det tidigare…
Kanske skulle ta å impregnera sig lite. Man kör alltså hela kiten?
