Kite får inte behålla väldsrekorder i speed

”ISAF does not recognize the record speed of kite
Well the speed world is all over the place at the moment with the news that the kiting record of 50.57 by Alexandre Caizergues and the ground breaking 50+kt run of Sebastien Cattelan DO NOT count for the official sailing speed records. In an ISAF meeting it was decided that kite powered craft could not be recognised as the holder of the World Sailing Speed record.
Now we windsurfers dont always see eye to eye with the kiters, but credit where credit is due, they broke the 50kts, and however you look at things they are powered solely by the wind.
To add further to the controversy, it seems nobody can really explain why. The ISAF say a kite is not a sail. However their definition of a sail is:
A sail is any type of surface intended to generate thrust by being placed in a wind—in essence a vertically-oriented wing.
Back in the 70’s Jacobs ladder made numerous attempts at the record using a stack of flexifoils attached to a boat and it was considered one of the great innovations of the speed sailing world. Now 30 years later it seems kites are sails?
So now the race is still on to break the 50 kts. Antoine, Finian, Bjorn and Whitey can all strap up their speed boards again and get back out on the course. Not sure how victorious they will feel however.”
In the last couple of month kitesurfers took the outright speedsailing record, the ISAF won’t ratify this, denying our riders their true place in history, it’s not right, it certainly isn’t fair.

Spela roll! Så länge det var över 50kn kan de väl säga vad de vill. Kite är ju fortfarande snabbaste vinddrivna farkosten hur de än vrider å vänder på det. Sen om det är ett segel eller ej kan de ju få hålla på och diskutera så mycket de vill. Jag håller inte på med speed men är det här väldigt viktigt för sporten vad windsurfarna säger? Om inte ISAF vill kännas vid sporten så får väl kajtarna starta något eget motsvarande.

Har för mig att precis samma sak hände när windsurfarna plockade hem speed-titeln från båtarna för många år sedan. Då skulle det inte räknas eftersom rekorden togs med windsurfingutrustning. Surt att de gör om samma skit igen. Pajasar.

hehehe if I was a windsurfer I would be pissed at how awesome kiteboarders are.. we just make them look rubbish… sailers too.. the only thing they are good for is keeping the brothel trade running.. and dumping large volvos in the sea..

Säger bara en ska.. Dåliga förlorare. Det är väl bara att komma igen och försöka slå det och inte gnälla så mycket?
Men vi klagar ju inte på dom står på en pråm typ
