Picked up a cheap bow kite (Eclipse Chameleon ’07) from a guy who couldn’t get the bridle adjusted right. Fixed it up yesterday – but decided I’d sell it on – prefer my slightly older bow.

One minute left of extra time, on my way in, I decided to downloop the kite to untwist the lines. Something went wrong and I ended up a kite 180 onto a rock 2cm below the surface. Doh!

What kind of prices for a fix and where to get it done? (Drakakuten in Gbg is not active any more.)

I’ve done big canopy repairs myself. I recon I could do this too – but I’d need some tips on the best way to do it.

    Anyone got any advice?

    Cheers
    Dave

p.s. if anyone is interested in buying the broken kite off me drop me a line.
The kite is a 13m bow and has good pull. According to the previous ower it has been used about 10 times so is in great shape otherwise. Lines and bar look perfect.

Bummer. Been there, done (exactly) that.

    Jag skickade den till http://www.segel.nu
Finns maybe nån närmare men no fuzz å 1000 pix senare kunde jag sätta i en ny bladder själv.

Thanks for the sympathy and the tip Nic.

The bladder survived somehow. Maybe a little stretched – but I managed to quickly let the air out.

    Alternative idea:

you need to split the leading edge, sew some sail tape on both sides and sew up the leading edge again.. it will take you a few hours.. I fixed a few of these last year through a local sailmaker, and although its costly, noone had any problems with the fixes afterwards. You are looking at about 1500sek to get it fixed.. simply because of the time involved in fixing it.

Do they use standard dacron tape (the insignia cloth that sailmakers have) or something as thick as the original material? That’s the bit I’m unsure about.

The only hard part might be sewing up the leading edge again afterwards.

I’m really tempted to have a go. What I lose in resale value I’ll gain in experience 🙂

I’ll see if anyone on kiteforum has some tips-
