Mail från Andy Brandt till Thierry Verneuil:

    Hi Thierry,

Hope you had a good trip back from the Show. I just raced the US
Nationals and got to borrow Jimmy
Diaz” FV1.2 board. Wow. It is awesome, the board is fast and goes
upwind and downwind great. I was using the board with a 10.6 RX1 in
conditions ranging from 12 – 18 mph, and 58 cms techtonics fin. I was
fourth overall, and third in Open behind Phil McGain, and Jimmy Diaz. I
was the only person in the top five using a production board. It rocks.

    See you in France, Andy

    P.S. Can’t wait until I get mine!

    PPS. Special thanks to Jimmy!!

Mail från Jimmy Diaz till Benoit Treguilly:

    Subject: U.S. Nationals

    Hi Benoit,

I just returned to Maui from the U.S. National Championships in Maryland.
We had quite a good event over there with about 60 competitors from all over
the country. We ended up doing 8 course races in very light winds (9.9
sails). I ended up finishing in second place after Phil McGain. We had a
very close regatta in which he won 4 races and got 3 2nds. I won three
races and got 4 seconds. He beat me by 1.25 points.

I raced my custom board but I took the FV12 from the photo shoot here in
Hawaii to try out. I am very impressed with this board! This is the first
production board that is even close to the very best course boards. I tried
it agains Robert on Maui during the photo shoot and it went considerable
better than his course board. I have also tried it against other sailors on
custom boards in a variety of conditions (6 knots – 25 knots) and it is very
competitive. I have not been able to try it yet against the Starboard but I
would be very surprised if the FV12 is not as fast or faster. I let Andy
Brandt race this board in the Nationals and he finished fourth overall and
third in the open category. The board is very impressive especially
considering its weight. It weighs 20 lbs (9kgs) compared to a 13 lbs (6kgs)
custom board yet is remarkably close in performance. I believe this board
can be very successful. I am very anxious to take it to South America.

I am considering going to the Formula Worlds in Thailand as I have
confidence that this board has the potential to win the event.

    I will be in
Maui for at least three weeks.

    Best Regards,

    Jimmy

Maxad bräda, men lite mer teknisk info tack, volym, längd etc.

    Vad kommer den att kosta?
Och när kommer den till Sverige ?
Förra året var det väl sisådär med utlovade leveranstider.

Formula Windsurfing rules set planing as soon as 7 knots of wind. Fabien Vollenweider and Fabien Pendle have designed the FV1.2 to plane as early as 6 knots of wind. This board is the absolute weapon to win a Formula Windsurfing race. Above its exceptional performances, the FV1.2 gives a brand new feeling. It’s sails high on the water and the contact area with water is very short. On all courses, the FV1.2 pushes further the limits of light wind sailing. It has no challenger today.

    Anatomy of an exceptionnal board

Maximum width : 87,5 cm. With this very large width, sails up to 11 m2 and fins up to 60 cm can be used. Its planing ability and top speed potential downwind and up wind are unbeatatble today.

Reduced width on top ends : at 60cm of the back, it is only 62 cm wide, so the FV1.2 is very fast and stays controlable even at the highest speed upwind and downwind, the decisive courses in Formula Windsurfing. High raised scoop. With such big dimensions, a very special scoop has been designed to keep control of this machine. The board is sailing high on the water and contact area with chop is very limited. An exceptionnal feeling.

The accelerations are fantastic and control is perfect : when the board is planing, it reacts like a much narrower board. It’s 60 cm long fin provides a high upwind speed/angle ratio and it never looses speed even in the deepest lulls.

6 mm x 16cm steps + flap : this appendice and shape parts reduce the water contact area and avoid the spinout.

Concave deck : it creates of a Venturi effect which tackle the board on the water while going upwind. It does not fly anymore.

Bevels on the front part : they lower shocks while overtaking the waves on the reaches.

Teknisk info har Nik redan svarat på. Vi får första brädan lagom till mässan i Stockholm i slutet av nästa vecka(9-12:e nov)sedan bör vi kunna få in brädan rullande from årsskiftet. Förhoppningsvis ännu tidigare. Leveransproblemen förra året berodde på branden i Cobra fabriken. Vi hoppas på bättre flyt denna säsong.

, sails up to 11 m2 and fins up to 60 cm can be used….ehhh, 60cm är på tok för litet i lättvind!!

…..Fabien Vollenweider and Fabien Pendle have designed the FV1.2…….

    __________

This weekend we had our nationals in Holland. The new fanatic courseboard was just released and the fanatic teamriders used it. It’s 90 cm wide. We had 2 days of courseracing in wind between 20-34 knots. Ben van der Steen won almost every race with his 90cm board, 64 Deboichet fin and 9.0 ART sail. The team riders all agreed that the board was good in highwinds.

    _______________

I want to order fin’s for my new courseboard. It will be the biggest AHD. That’s probably going to be 93 cm. But which sizes to order? I own a 60 cm Deboichet and I’am thinking about a 64 and a 58 or something. The sizes I’am going to sail with are 10.9, 9.8, and 9.0.

    ___________

I heared AHD will get 93 cm. It won’t be(officially) ready for the worlds.

    ______________

Some new models I checked in the web:
Drops FL12 and Drops FL13. The latest is 88cm wide!
