After the Slingshot Gto event we had the opportunity to test the new 2003 Fuels on the water.
Last week we finally had some wind to test these new kites on the water.
De Fuel 2003
The Fuel is a high performance 4 line kite for the expert-advanced kiteboarders.
With every new kite that comes on the market we see that the manufacturing quality of the kites is getting better. The RD boys are clearly doing there job !
Slingshot has clearly chosen for quality and top line materials.
The kite has taped seams, multiple layer construction and lots of reinforcements.
The quality and finish are one of the best we’ve have seen!
One finger pull valve makes deflating quick and easy.
The wingtips have carbon battens, the different attachment points C.F.I.-called (Custom Fuel Injector) allow lots of tuning possibilities.
The turning speed, the pull and the lift of the kite can be adjusted.
On the water :
Tester: Roy, 68Kg
Conditions: N 11-13 Kn, choppy conditions.
Kite : Slingshot Fuel 15 ( projected 11.3)
AR: High ( apr ox. 5.2 )
Board: TT Radical 1.52 Pro Model
Wind range: 11 – 17 Kn
Measured wind range: 9 – ? Kn
Users : advanced-expert
Bar + lines: 20″ bar + 30m lines (7 + 23)
Relaunching: The kite is mostly recoverable without it hitting the water, but a test isn’t complete without a relaunching test, so… It isn’t very difficult to ge this baby back in the air, swim a few meters towards the kite and it already flips on to its back. Then just work the kite to the edge of the window and its airborne. This is really exceptional for a high Ar kite!
Power: I connected the C.F.I. to the standard settings, this gives you the best compromise between power and speed. Once your going you don’t need to work the kite a lot to get enough power to do transitions or moves. Once powered up you can launch yourself towards the sky (HIGH).
Stability: The new Fuel has the same stability like the 2002 Fuel. So no worry’s in the air, you have the time to concentrate on your moves and not on figuring out where the kite is.
Conclusion: The Fuel is a high AR kite that can be enjoyed by all advanced-expert kiteboarders.
Its stability and power makes this kite a real winner !
