Trip to Goteborg / Hamlstad this coming summer

HI, sweden late summer depend mostly on the
lowpreassures but also on the seabreeze,
during that time I think the sailingrate is
about 2 times a week maybee 3-4 times if you are lucky.
I recommend that you bring bigger gear to be sure,
sweden is really not a wavespot with swell that travel
for thouseand of miles but mostly windswell that travel
for like 200 km the most, i Halmstad.
In halmstad you have windsurfingspots at most places
where the coast meets the ocean but ringenas, and vilsharad
are the most famous ones, but I also like vastra stranden.
Varberg and apelviken might be the most famous beach in sweden the also like mellbystrand get summer breeze,
(sometimes in Halmstad also).
But ofcourse we can get waves here if the wind is strong
but not any swells like hawaii or denmark.
Klitmoller, Denmark is the best wavespot close to sweden
one of the best spots in Europe.

6.2m2 is my biggest sail so will need to lose some weight..:-)

Any good links showing the conditions and/or spots?

2-4 times a week is already a pretty good average…The holiday cannot be all windsurfing or else my girlfriend will not be so happy…:-)

Is June better than July in terms of wind strength? statistically speaking of course.

My feeling, based on recent years, is that June is windier than July and August. In July and August, weather is getting stable and low pressures come in more seldom. In June also the water is colder, making the thermal winds stronger. September-Oktober are the best months, with deep pressures pumping in (not this year though…:(
Fiskebäck is easily accessible, has a great rigging deck, but the surf is rather crappy. Flat/choppy water and boats everywhere. Only really works with S-SSW and N-NNW wind.
With SW, you go to Askimsviken/Hovås kallbad:

,great bump/jump at the small island on the other side or the reef. The waves can get big at 15+ m/s =)

I usually rig at the marina. At 10+ m/s there is OK bump/jump conditions.
Then we have the easterly wind directions…
At SE, the only place I know for bump/jump is At the Hönö-side, Fotö-bridge. You have to go to the Islands north from GBG. The car ferry to get there is free.
At NE, Sillvik at Lilleby fritidsby works. There is a reef 300 m to the NW from the shore, where small waves usually build up.
With E-winds, Öckerö can work, I have never surfed there myself, though.

Do you want real wave surfing, you have to travel 80 km south to Varberg/Apelviken (W-NW) or Träslövs läge (SSW-SW).
This is where I usually go when the deeeeep pressures arrive =)
You can get lucky and have great surfing 5-6 days in 2 weeks, but weather is unreliable here. Bad luck and you’ll get nothing…Hint: GBG is also great for MTB (my alternative hobby…). Hope you’ll enjoy your stay in any case!
