Var schyssta fenor (sjögräs) till vettigt pris?

Hej,

Gunsails (http://www.gunsails.de) sells antiweed fins up to 36 cm (equivalent to 50 cm deep straight fins roughly). I bought one of those from Surf Unique last March (http://www.surf-unique.com).

Nu blir jag lite konfunderad. Tänker man inte på samma sätt när det gäller storlek på sjögräsfenor? Enligt Christophe så skall en 36 cm weed motsvara 50 cm race?? Hur gör man den konverteringen?

Om man ringer killen så kan man träffas. Han bor nånstans i Malmö-området.

F.ö; Har köpt en WeedWave 23cm som jag tänkte köra på min 90liters till 4.7, 5.3 och 6.0. Hade ingen aning om att man räknar annorluna om det är weed? Är det totalkört eller?

Hej Mem,

I am not an expert in fins, so I am sure there are people who are better qualified than me to answer your question. But I will try to give you a ”rule of thumb”.

The angle between the leading edge of a weedfin and the leading edge of a straight fin is roughly 45 deg. What matters for a fin is, among others, its wetted surface. This means that a weedfin should have roughly the same area as an ordinary straight fin, or if your prefer a weedfin is simply an ordinary straight fin that is bent 45 deg.

Therefore, if you remember some trigonometry, simply multiply the depth of your ordinary fin with the sine of 45 deg, and you will get the actual depth of your antiweed fin.

For instance:
50 cm x sin(45 deg) = 35 cm.

If you want to find something equivalent to 46 cm, then you have 46 cm x sin(45 deg) = 32 cm. You need a 32 cm antiweed fin.
