dom har haft en del problem tydligen. läs om det på deras sida, tryck på gamla segel och sen letar du fram den modellen av v8 där de la av med shear tipen, där har jag för mig att jag läst det.
Björn (segelmakarn) hade ett och annat och säga om den där konstruktionen när jag snackade med honom om det.
jaiken har två stycken segel med shear tip, v8 och diablo, och de verkar funka helt ok. Om du köper ett begagnat så kontrollera att tipen är ok. det ska gå att få tag på reservdelar.

när jag kollar så låter det faktiskt mer som om det är för att seglet ska vara enklare att hanskas med, inte lika beroende av rätt trim osv. Bedöm själv:
V8 StreetRacer

We’ve actually done a complete re-design of the V8 StreetRacer for this season. We’re not changing the actual on water character of the sail, it’s still our most powerful, early planing, flat water blasting sail.

Obviously the first thing people will notice is there’s no Shear Tip. I’ll explain more about that later, but with the Shear Tip gone, you’ll see we’ve now added a batten above the boom and there’s now two battens below the boom. What this means is, we’re balancing the basic characteristics of the sail.

You’ve got plenty of low-end grunt, which we get with the two battens below the boom. Then by adding a batten above the boom in place of the Shear Tip, we also have a sail that gives the kind of stable, racing sail kind of performance once it’s powered-up and motoring.
The V8 Street Racer is really the ideal sail for the weekend racer. This is for the person who wants performance and speed without the really fine-tuned Formula-One issues you start getting into with the RX class of sails. I’m sure you could happily compete on a national level with today’s Street Racer.

The simplicity factor is always there though with the V8. You’ve got three cams, you’ve got the narrow luff sleeve, which makes it much easier for waterstarts. We’re using the new Luff Glide material there too, to make it nice and easy to slide in the mast. And now we’ve also designed-out the Shear Tip, so you have less to worry about there with adjusting, tuning and maintenance.

You’ll see we’ve introduced this new double luff panel on all three of the new 2001 slalom sails. There are a couple of reasons for this. Firstly it allows us to incorporate a little more resilient material into an area of the sail that gets a lot of wear during rigging.

Secondly, there’s a lot of load dispersal going on in this area of the sail, with loads running from the tack and the head. We use the second luff panel to help us with load dispersal in this critical area.

Dom gör ju bra segel så jag tror inte du har något att oroa dig för. dessutom borde det finnas riktigt många som kört med tipen några säsonger som du skulle kunna fråga.
