Awesom reply (och på engelska dessutom, you are spoiling me) – thanks Guy. Not sure I’m ready for glassing in the fins but if a simpler fix doesn’t hold I’ll try that.

Thanks for the tip. I only paid 1k for it so it does not have to be perfect.

Yup – it’s a completely standard polyester shortboard. Would you repair it with polyester? I thought most people still did repairs with epoxy since it is easy to get small amounts in various thicknesses. I’ve never worked with polyester – I didn’t know it would be easier (apart from sanding).

If you can launch from the water then there are loads of spots between Forsbäck and Draget that work in a SO-NNO wind. When Draget was invaded the other week I was out alone at Finasand, for example.
Look out for shallow spots (eniro) with somewhere you can connect a leash to land the kite in the water. I use various gadgets to help. A strong bag with a line, float and carabina is my latest. I fill it with rocks and sand and it can be left in the shallows to launch and land. I have a turbolauncher too, but you can manage without if you plan well.
I’m sure there are loads of experts on this kind of stuff from the rocky bits of this fine country.
There is always a risk with this kind of start, so I don’t recommend it to inexperienced kiters. At your own risk, etc etc.

I vote for more nörderiet
I’ve just made up a bar with classic flexifoil hydrolines 700lbs front 550 back. Familiar with those? You think those are too thick? I tape and sew them and they look sweet.

En följdfråga kanske: Varför kan man inte korta den lina som är längre? Innebär det mer kraft i kiten eller?
Nah – it would prob be OK. I was thinking of the older naish bars which didn’t have any adjustment on the back lines. You just need to adjust the length of the back lines by changing the knot under the bar floaters.
Personally I would never buy new lines just to fix this, but you can always throw money at kitesurfing….

5cm can be enough to be annoying. Don’t mess with the kite lines (definitely don’t try to shorten them). You should add a 5cm pigtail to the shorter line at the kite end. Just use a bit of 3mm dyneema (for example). Double it over and tie a figure-of-8 in both lines at the end. Attach this to the kite in the same way that you normally attach
the kite line (i.e. either using the knot end or the loop end).Lengthening the steering lines a bit shouldn’t cause any major problems with the trim of the kite since it is the front lines that stretch most over time.

I think that is what the vid is all about. A 5th line to the tip of one of the struts makes it really easy to relaunch in light winds. Easy to add to other kites too. (The foilboard is there just because they work well in light winds).

I enjoyed an hour on the water. Very gusty at times. I was glad to find someone to launch me though. I (90kg) was well powered on a twintip with a flexifoil atom 7m.
You should be buying gear for the usual conditions not the twice-a-year ones. Having said that you will get a lot of fun out of an 8 but it would have been pure survival for you today.
