Never use X and boom in a website…

Wow, now I am glad I wrote this post and I have a bunch of questions ! Some of them are seem like stupid questions but I really have a lot to learn it seems. Thanks for the reply so far… Are there any disadvantages to having such ”racey” sails ?
I mean if I want a relaxed day just cruising up and down are they gonna be OK for that too? Can they still point upwind like a normal freeride sail ?My next point is the sizes, how come you guys use such big sails? Are race sails more flexible when it comes to higher winds or is it just that you head so far off the wind when doing speed runs that you need the extra size ?
I had a day not so long ago when I was getting beaten up using an old 5.4sqm wave sail on my old freeride board, would I have had less stress using my new Slalom board and one these new race sails, say the 6.4 you suggested ?
What kind of windspeed do you think the 5,7 Phantom might be needed ?My last question is about the masts, are there any disadvantages to 100% CF masts when it comes to durability ?
I am still crashing alot and don’t want to waste my 5000SEK mast the first time I am out trying to play with the ”big boys” ! My sailing is at the level now where I am probably 80% Heart and 20% skill !Once again thanks for the quick reply so far, it seems you might have saved me from wasting a bit of my hard earned cash…

I am also looking for an AL360 E3 Carbon boom, 160-220, I am going to get a big order from Surfkeppler, 5 sails and three masts etc. They are promising me a big discount…will probably place the order before Xmas, if you can wait, you are welcome to join me here and take advantage of my bulk discount…

I am running a 32cm fin and don’t want to do sommersaults on the sandbanks anymore !!! How my finbox is still attached to my board is a wonder to me….anyway, met Lars today and sailed the just slightly West of South at Habo, it was great actually, mostly because the wind was light and the water level +20 which meant crossing the reef was no problem and it was not too rough outside of the reefs protection, I was using my 99 litre freeride board from 2007 and a new 7sqm twincam sail, it was enough to get planing but everynow and again I wished I had another sqm or two…that’s three days sailing in a row for me which is great considering the time of year!

Enjoy Habo oscarlj, I am heading down to Vag 100 in 30 minutes, see you there Karin.

I have never been to Habo in a Southerly, I might give it a try, at times I find too shallow there too so Lundåkra will probably be way to shallow for me…right now I am off to Vag 100 ! Thanks for the advice.

I was there from 09:30 to 15:00, rainy but real nice flat water blasting…Karin and oscarlj, where you gonna sail tomorrow? Seems like slightly high water tomorrow and North of West winds, my money is on Vag 100 Hölviken.
Karin, never got that call but you can reply here if you want…

Thanks Kinetic, I actually came to the same conclusion myself, I have decide on the AL360 E3 Carbon, they had one at onwater.se and it looked like super quality.
I have done alot of searching around and found this test below on another forum which has the AL360 as one of the stiffest booms on the market, even better than the X9 ! And it is 160-220cm which covers all my sales, at 5000SEK, I think it will be a good deal. Here is a copy/paste from the test: German magazine SURF tested the majority of booms currently available on the market. The results below come directly from this test. Stiffness in N/mm measured at 10 and 44 cm extension. The higher the values, the stiffer the boom is. All booms tested are in the 180-240 cm range. Brand, model, price / stiffness + 10 cm / stiffness + 44

What slalom sail range would you guys take with you ? I am 85 kgs and ride a 100ltr board.
-
Thanks for the advice, went in to Onwater.se and they had a normal prolimit (not the V-Grip) so I could see the head and compare it to all the other booms they had there. The thing about the Prolimit was that it was a 160-220 so it should cover all my sails, nice for traveling, if I don’t like how it feels at full extension I can always get the bigger Aeron for the biggest 2 sails.

Well done, great report, you convinced me, I am going there next year at the end of summer (September), whos coming?
