Medlem4 december, 2004 vid 10:11 som svar på: Who was surfing on August 21 close to Solberga?!?I got into contact with Viktor from bilderavljus (i.e. the company who actually took the picture) and I got the following answer:
”… The picture is taken on the 21 august (as it says in the text) at about 1.15 pm at a place called ”Tjuvkilshuvud” on the West Coast of Sweden. I remember taking this picture, first w/o the surfer, but then found it amusing to take one with it aswell.. We are a creative company 😉

I have had back problems earlier too…
What I systematically do now is to warm up before going out WSurfing. This takes 5-10 min (which is annoying when one is eager to WSurf). After a WSurf session, I do some stretching for 5-10 min also.
Another thing to do is to train your back/abdominal muscles at the gym regularly.

PS: I have a NeilPryde ”anatomic” harness, of which the purpose is to distribute the efforts on a larger surface…

Hej!
More info about renting WS equipment at l’Almanarre (in French) at:

PS: If there is a low pressure system travelling from W to E over the Alps, then the Mistral wind will start blowing. It can last 3 to 5 days in a raw, and can reach wind velocities up to 130 km/h (36 m/s). This happens mostly during the spring/autumn, but this could also occur during the summer if there is a low pressure system on the way. The wind is stronger close to Marseille in such conditions (Nice is a bit far away, but you will feel it too there).

Hej,
I spent one week south of Dakar in December 1999. The weather was very good (average temperature of 26 C or so, and something like 23-24 C in the water).
The wind was actually varying quite a lot during the day, with a typical thermal breeze in the afternoon. There was unfortunately no possibility of renting any windsurfing gear. In one week if I remember correctly, there was maybe 4 surfable days with a 6.0m2.
There is a ”Club Med”, called ”Les Almadies”, which used to have some WS gear, but because the wind was sometimes a bit too strong, they had too many problems with rescuing the beginners drifting away! In 1999, there was no WS gear at that place any longer, but they were thinking about KiteSurfing. I do not know the status nowadays.
Anyway, if you bring your WS gear, there are plenty of amazing long sandy beaches. North of Dakar, close to the ”pink lake”, you will find for instance the sandy beaches where the rally Paris-Dakar used to drive.

Ja nog fan ska det till en fransyska eller fransos för att göra något så idiotiskt, tycker att de flesta gånger man ser något så här puckat så är det alltid folk från frankrike som för det. Sicka idioter… Men som sagt de får ju vara med på TV nu. *jippie* Suck.

Yes, you are right: the Swedes are so much more intelligent and tolerant than the French people…
Pathetic that some of the Swedes, like you, are so narrow-minded though

I am not a waveriding specialist
, so other people could probably answer your question better, but the waves are pretty decent on the other side of the fjord, after passing this big island in the middle…

There is still some seagrass in Torkelstorp, but much less than before. Anyway, it is ”surfable” now. I might have got 2 spinouts because of the seagrass during a 1.5 hour surfsession on Monday evening.

Hej Magnus,
Where do you exactly go out windsurfing? Is is really Åsa? The Ringhals nuclear power plant is a bit too close for the picture to be taken in Åsa…

Hej,
I was out in Torkelstorp yesterday evening and was overpowered with a 4.7m2 sail most of the time. But it was a very good surfsession otherwise.
