I’d worry more about snakes, crocs, drunks and crowds considering that on average, there is only around 1 fatality a year due to sharks.

I think a rating is in order:

1 star = asshole
2 stars = mostly asshole
3 stars = sometimes asshole, sometimes helpful
4 stars = mostly helpful
5 stars = always helpful

I am completely satisfied with 2 stars in this case!

Baez, you, Yann, and Daniel all got 5 stars from me! but somebody must not like you because you all still only have around 3!
I am at 2 now, probably because I raised a stink (like Michael Moore, attacking the problems at the root has it’s consequences).
But I have now come to a diagnosis of Swedish message boards, that many users (or abusers?) suffer from acute passive aggressiveness, not entirely unlike road rage!
Everybody is such a hardass online but I haven’t seen too many backing that up in the water! Moha ha ha
Anyways, peace out, and Yann…and Daniel, I’ll see you guys in the water because at least I know you boyz surf!

THe surf is HEAVY on the east coast when it’s on(note, real flat when it isn’t). But real good.
Jaco has plenty of fun waves but it does close-out when it gets over 5 feet (a little overhead) but I stayed in Jaco for a month and some days there were firing. The spots close by are better (hermosa is 3km, and escondito is a short boat ride).
I usually went somewhere else for the morning and then surfed Jaco in the afternoon, I was also there around the same time as you’ll be going.

Jag åker till S Teresa om två veckor. Tänker stanna en månad. Inget är bokat. Har du några rekommendationer/tips om boende? Surfar helst longboard men tänker inte släpa med min egen. Vad vet du om möljigheterna att köpa eller hyra en longboard på plats?
Alternativet är att ta med en 6’10” och i värsta fall betala drygt 1000kr för flygfrakten.

there is a shaper in mal pais that’ll put a board together for you. You can stay at a few different places there, for as low as 10-15$

stayin in Jaco is fine, there are tons of waves around and most waves in Costa are pretty soft like medewi (east coast is a different story). Jaco beach itself is ok, but you will be real close to hermosa, esterillos, escondito, even manuell antonio and about 45 min from Boca barranca. Jaco also has a few surf shops and is a good place to get info and stay cheap (because there are alternatives)
You can’t really go wrong in Costa, there are waves all over the place,
