If we are talking a vet that has seen all the mistakes and is genuine about helping a mate, fair enough.. I dont see how he isnt able to – A piece of paper from the IKO saying you paid them money doesnt make you a better instructor straight out of the gate surely?
That is two extreme opposites of the spectrum though, an instructor that has done the drill a million times, knows what parts go fast, and what parts it is worth spending time going over twice so that everyone understands what is about to go down, which always does…..
Nothing wrong with surferlove, there was a time when courses were not as available to all, and this is how people learned old skool. Kites were a shitload more dangerous than they are now, but there were less people on the water.. but no less on the beach, are accidents more common?, the argument could go on forever really.
One thing I would like to finish on though.. its important to support your local surf culture, it doesnt matter if its a school, a shop or whatever.. these are the guys sorting out events so you can meet new people and promote the sport to make sure that you still have a spot to surf in while all the crazy ass home owners and bird watchers try to get you banned.
Dont get ripped off.. buy a slingshot.

yeah, nothing wrong with a mate teaching you to be honest, but there is a bigger risk of you or someone else getting hurt.
Instructors can pretty much see the accident coming before it happens, simply because we see the same mistakes everytime. An instructor will get you up on a board faster, and safer than anyone else.

V100 is no noobie spot, you launch next to moving traffic, thats far more dangerous than any fence or stationary cars.
As I said before, carry on like this down there and it wont be long before somebody wonders if its a good idea to have noobies that cant fly a kite with one hand crashing their shit all over traffic.
Shes fine, and I am genuinely happy she didnt get hurt, but what happens when a bus full of people smashes into a fiesta full of kids trying to avoid someones kite?

hmm… its kind of hard to say anything or give advice to newbies on the forum without sounding aggro.. and I know you guys probably dont think I have a problem with being outspoken, but I will try to word this as pleasantly as I can! : )
The problem with kiting in the Näs is that for many years there have been lots of people that just dont like us taking up space as we are seen as being dangerous and a menace to the local wildlife. This is not something new we have just had to deal with, this is a problem we have always had to tip-toe around.
For everyones sake, if this is your first summer on the kite, cant you drive up to Habo instead? there are plenty of people around to give advice and spot someone in trouble long before it becomes dangerous. Otherwise, if you cant get up there and insist on being beside the road at v100, walk far enough out before you launch so that you can open your safety and ditch the kite.
Hope everyone is ok, but seriously folks, down there you really gotta think about other people more than yourself. After years of fighting to keep the spots it would suck if someone that had only been kiting a month destroyed all our years of hard work : )

haha same with me, a friend of mines mum used to work there and I spotted it while I was over, but I always ended up riding waves when it was good there. Get a bunch of guys, out with some spades and dig around the stones at the start of the season so they sink down and you will have a killer spot : )
