The more we used this sail, the more we were hugely impressed by exactly
what it could do, being quite different to many of the sails in the test.
The first thing that hits you about this sail though is its incredibly
smooth and easy handling, being more akin to that of a wave sail than a race
sail, which initially leads you to think that it is just too comfort
orientated to out-perform anything, but how wrong we were! The fact is that
we just could not find a sail that would go past it, and in most cases it
just gradually pulled away requiring very little effort. … with a
slightly longer than average boom, it is necessary to shift the back hand
back a bit in a gust to sheet it in, but it seems to be this action that
allows the GTR to instantly accelerate in a gust and raise its speed that
slight extra notch. In this respect it is perhaps slightly more technical
and physical to sail than some, but it almost makes it more rewarding for
any reasonable level short boarder to be able to feel they’re giving some
input. The tight and springy feel also gives it heaps of power to pump
against for low end planing, although it certainly isn’t solid like a race
sail, which combined with its flat foil and effortless rotation also makes
it probably the easiest of the slalom sails to manoeuvre.Overall- Being light with soft and easy handling already makes the GTR a
real joy to use, but add to this the fact that it is devastatingly fast
makes it almost unbelievable. Furthermore, it also has effortless
manoeuvrability and excellent range at both the top and bottom end. ”March issue Windsurf UK
